Every year, Hong Kong Festival Orchestra and Voices (HKFO & HKFV) recruits some of the best musical talents from Hong Kong and abroad to perform in a series of concerts and creative presentations. Interested musicians with a heart to serve are encouraged to apply and participate in our festivals.

The programme and repertoire of our Summer Festival 2018 are as follows:

Provisional rehearsal dates (HKFV): 3, 5, 8, 11 August

Rehearsals are expected to be held from 7 to 10pm, with the exception of on-site rehearsals on-the-day, which are expected to be held in the afternoon with the performance in the evening.

How do we play Shakespeare in Music

Date: 11 August (Sat)

We expect at least 80% attendance for all of the rehearsals. The last three off-site rehearsals and the final on-site rehearsal are mandatory. Members who fell short of these requirements may not be allowed to perform.

Please note that a small administrative charge will be levied on successful applicants to cover for the hiring and/or printing cost of performing copyrighted materials.

Audition requirements:

Standard of musicianship:

HKFV recruits experienced choristers with at least 3 years of experience singing in choirs.

Audition materials:

  1. An audio recording of the applicant singing (a cappella on a neutral vowel) the following exercises, after getting a starting pitch — please record in mp3 or wav format.
  2. A 'D harmonic minor' scale, one octave ascending and descending
  3. Arpeggios, one octave ascending and descending, first legato and then staccato, starting on A and ascending in keys to Eb for altos and bass voices; starting on Db and ascending in keys to G for sopranos and tenors.
  4. A recording of any Art Songs in the last 6 months.
