Sandra Chingyu Lam started her piano training at the age of six. She is currently pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Music in Hong Kong Baptist University. Being taught by Dr. Helen Cha and Dr. Karl Lo, Lam has won First Prize in Debussy Class and Second Prize in Free Choice Class B of The 19th Hong Kong Asia Piano Competition this year. She has also won First Prize in Free Choice Class E of The 4th Macao Asia Pacific Youth Piano Competition in 2015.
Lam was the receiver of the Special Talent Award in HKBU College of International Education for two successive years as well as the Talent Development Scholarship under the HKSAR Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme 2014/15. Apart from The London Trinity ATCL in piano, Lam also attained ABRSM Grade 8 in double bass in 2012.
Lam is active in orchestra performance. She has performed with HKBU Symphony Orchestra, HKBU Wind Symphony, HKBU String Ensemble, Millennium Youth Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, Hong Kong Festival Orchestra, Hong Kong Chordophonia, Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Strings Amarta and Hong Kong Music Academy etc.
Eager to be an all-rounded musician, Lam also participated in choir performance with HKBU Women’s Chorus and took part in administrative works in art groups such as the Hong Kong Art Administrators Association, Gustav Mahler Orchestra and The Strings Amarta.
